Acne Jasper Pouch

This little beauty arrived today from Helsinki. It's the Acne Jasper pouch, with card slots, a key chain and a back pocket for your phone. Like most Acne products the price makes you pause, but at 20% off I can justify such a practical and beautifully made object.
Then on my way back from the post office I ducked into my local op shop and found old Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album, one of my favorites. It has the loveliest fabric cover and typography.

Candlelight

I usually bathe in the glow of my laptop right up until the minute I go to sleep, but recently I learned that bright unnatural light in the hours before you go to sleep reduces melatonin production.

Since then, I've been trying to avoid bright lights in the evening and put my laptop away earlier. Rather than treating this as a chore, I've finally found a practical application for my beautiful candle vice.

There's also something a bit magical about them, captured so well in the Alexander McCall Smith quote above. Perfect with winter evenings and good books. And I'm fond of the way they make my room smell like a garden.

Curio Noir, ‘for those with a fascination for the interesting and uncommon’ are my absolute favorite. They are the most ethereal luxury candles. The glass votives are hand-blown, and find new purpose as lovely vases after the candle is burnt down.

When I want a more utilitarian candle for late nights, I look to the Aromatherapy Co. They have clean white glass votive, and the 'Juniper Berry and Wild Thyme' scent hits that perfect note of sweet but not sickening.

Clean Slate

I've been redesigning Milk & Mead and in the process unpublished all my posts. Rather than re-publish them I've decided on a clean slate, and a slightly new direction.
